Lowell Russell Bellwood
Lowell Russell Bellwood. 79, of Akron died Monday, August 28, 1995, at Marian Health Center, Sioux City, Iowa, after a brief illness.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 30 at Schroeder Funeral Home. Rev. Donald Greenough officiated. Burial was In Riverside Cemetery in Akron under the direction of Schroeder Funeral Home. Hoschler American Legion Post #186 conducted military rites after the graveside services. Music was "How Great Thou Art" and "Peace in the Valley" with Gary Tucker as vocalist and Carol Harris as pianist.
Pallbearers were Ricky Hankamer, Rodney Hankamer, Russell Hankamer, Byron Roggatz, Roger Otten, and Randy Willms.
Mr. Bellwood was born May 5, 1916, in Akron to Dalton and Maude Stuart Bellwood. He was married to Doris Holm June 26. 1935, in Le Mars, Iowa. He was a life long farmer and carpenter in the Akron area retiring In 1990. He was in World War II and belonged to the American Legion in Akron.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter and son-in-law Norma and Henry Hankamer of Santa Fe, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law Greg and Madonna Bellwood of Akron; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Dr. Lester and his wife. Dr. Kathy Bellwood of Evergreen. Colorado; one sister, Lucile and her husband Matthew Gale of Akron.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Irene Smith.
