Edwin H. Frerichs
Edwin Herman Frerichs, 78, of Akron, died Thursday, May 13, 1993, at his home after a long illness.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 15, at St. John’s Lutheran church in Preston township, rural Akron. The Rev. Stephanie Sanborn officiated.
“Abide With Me” and “What A Friend” were sung by the congregation. Organist was Loretta Van Buskirk.
Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Pallbearers were Don Feauto, Ron Beeck, Robert Frerichs, Gerald D. Frerichs, Jr., Roger Frerichs, Gary Marshall, and Leonard Koch.
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Reich, Leon Gabel, Robert Hillrichs, and Willie Huebner.
Mr. Frerichs was born Feb. 5, 1915, on the homeplace in Preston township, northeast of Akron, the son of John D. and Mary (Nannen) Frerichs. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. John’s Lutheran. He married Ella Beeck, Oct. 13, 1938, at the some church. He was a lifelong Akron area farmer. He and his wife moved into Akron in December 1991.
Mr. Frerichs was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran church, rural Akron.
Survivors include his wife, Ella; two sons and their wives, Gerald and Mary of Hawarden and Randy and Charlene of Akron; a daughter, Patricia and her husband, John Hill of ExceisiorSprings, Mo.; eight grandchildren; a brother, Herbert and his wife, Margaret of Akron; two sisters, Clara Satthoff of Akron and Edna and her husband, Russ Marshall of Ireton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Ben. Louis, and Albert.
