ALEXANDER MEISNER
Alexander “Al” Meisner, 84, of South Sioux City, Nebraska died Monday, December 27, 1999, at his residence. Mr. Meisner was born July 24, 1915, at St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Alexander and Elizabeth (Maser) Meisner. He graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1933. He was active in high school sports and had played semi-pro football. He married Valeta McKenzie on August 16, 1933, in Elk Point, South Dakota. He was an Army veteran. He was employed with the Corps of Engineers in the bank stabilization division in the Sioux City area. He was a security officer at Armour Packing Company until it closed. He was then employed until his retirement as a butcher at Economy Market in Sioux City. He also served several years as a volunteer fireman for South Sioux City. He was member of First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City. Survivors include his wife; three sons Jerry and his wife, Marty, of South Sioux City, Don “Skip” and his wife Kathy of Sioux City, Blaine “Jim” and his special friend Chris of Des Moines; a sister, Alyce Ingram, of St. Paul, Minnesota; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. He preceded in death by a brother Harry; two sisters, Dorothy and Frances.
