PETER PLAHN, 76, DIES IN CANADA

Word has come from Mrs. August Beck of Sioux City, who relates she has been a Sentinel reader 53 years, that her brother, Peter Frederick Plahn, 76, died Jan. 5 at a hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He had been in ill health four months.

Mr. Plahn was born in Plymouth county in a homestead shack on land his father had staked as a claim in the 1870’s. Moving to Canada in 1913, Mr. Plahn has lived there since.

He is survived by three sons, John of San Sanfrancisco, Leonard of Saskatchewan, Canada, Fred of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and two daughters, who have located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and Seattle, Wash. Also surviving are a brother, Bill of Sioux City; and two sisters, Emma Pashan of Batvia, Ill., and Mrs. Beck, Sioux City.

Mr. Plahn visited his relatives in Sioux City in October 1953 for the first time in 42 years.
