Joseph Beck
Joseph Herman August Beck, 70, Hinton, died Sunday (Nov. 5, 1978) at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness. He had been hospitalized for 3 1/2 weeks.
Mrs. Beck was born July 12, 1906, in Lincoln township, rural Hinton, to Charles and Emma Mathwig Beck. He farmed in Lincoln township until 1948 when he moved to a farm in lake Benton where he remained until 1959. In that year he opened an upholstery business in Sioux City, retiring in 1975. His marriage to Maxine G. Henkel took place Aug. 20, 1935, in Spirit Lake. He was a member of Trunity Lutheran church.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran church, rural Hinton, with Rev. Arthur Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home in Le Mars.
Survivors are his wife maxine of Hinton; three sons, Gene Raymond Beck, Boulder, Colo.; Darrel P. Beck Yankton, and Charles A. Beck, Hinton, a daughter, Mrs. James (JoAnn) Christenson, Sioux City; ten grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond of Sioux City,and Harold of Le Mars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald Carl Beck and by a brother.
