Mrs. Charles Beck

Mrs. Charles (Emma) Beck, 88, rural Merrill, died Wednesday at Floyd Valley hospital in Le Mars. She had been at the hospital since last August.

A lifelong county resident, Emma Mathwig was born May 7, 1880, at Hinton. Her marriage to Charles Beck took place Oct. 1, 1907, on the farm home near Hinton.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran church, rural Hinton. Rev. Lowell Boettcher, Le Mars, will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; three sons, Joe, Hinton; Ray, Merrill, and Harold, Le Mars; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Kounkel, Le Mars, and Mrs. Minnie Krueger, Sioux City, and a brother, Herman Mathwig, Oto.

She was preceded in death by a son, Arthur, two sisters, and two brothers.
