Note: Her maiden name is Phillips and she probably is buried in Graceland Park Cemetery with her husband.
Plymouth County Pioneer Woman Taken By Death
Mrs. Mary Jane Bennett Was Well Known Resident Of Hinton
A resident of Plymouth county for forty years. Mrs. Mary Jane Bennett, 78, died Sunday evening at her home in Hinton following a lingering illness.
Mrs. Bennett was born March 4, 1859, in Whitney county, Indiana. She was married to Charles Bennett in Indiana in 1875 and the couple came to Iowa the following year. Later resided for short times on farms near Scotland, S. D., Moville, Kingsley, Larned, Kan., O’Neill, Neb., and Leeds, and then returned to Plymouth county.
Surviving are the widower; four daughters, Mrs. Frank Woolworth, of Los Angeles; Mrs. Gustave Lebe, of Parkston, S. D.; Mrs. Frank March, of Hinton, and Mrs. Percy Woolworth, of Sioux City; two sons, Verne Bennett and Clarence Bennett, both of Hinton; thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Jane Goodrich, of Columbia City, Ind., and two half brothers, George and Noel Bennett, of Sioux City.
