William Begg
William Begg of 909 1st Ave., S. E. died on Monday, September 27, 1948, at about 3:30 o’clock, at the Sacred Heart hospital after a sickness of about two years.
He wasborn January 12, 1865, in Dundas, Ontario, Canada, of Scotch parentage, coming to Iowa with the family in 1869 where they settled on a claim in Union Township, Plymouth county. He continued to farm in Union Township until the time of his retirement in 1904. On January 13, 1913 he was married to Sara Eyres and has resided in Le Mars ever since.
He was the youngest of five brothers and the last survivor, two sisters having died in Scotland before the family emigrated to Canada. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 2:30 p. m. with Rev. Oerter officiating.

Pioneer In This CountyFuneral services for William Begg were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Mauer Funeral Home. The services were conducted by the Rev. John Oerter and burial was in the City cemetery. The pall bearers were Gordon Stokes, Chas. Begg, Calvin Eyres, Roderick Eyres, Everett Eyres and Roger Eyres.
William Begg was born January 12, 1865, in Dundas, Ontario, Canada, of Scotch parentage. In 1869 he came to Iowa with his family who settled on a claim in Union township, Plymouth county.
He continued to farm in Union township until he retired in 1904 and moved to Le Mars. On January 13, 1913, he was married to Sara Eyres and has resided continuously in Le Mars. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.
He died Monday, September 27 at the age of 83.
He is survived by his wife, Sara. He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by four older brothers and tow sister, who died in Scotland before the family emigrated to Canada.
