Ruth Elliott, 85 of Hinton, died Monday, June 2, 1997, at Westwood Convalescent and Rest Home in Sioux City. Services were held Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial was in Logan Park Cemetery. A prayer service was held on Wednesday. Mrs. Elliott was born October 22, 1911, in Battle Creek, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Amelia Hermecke Brosamle. She attended Cushing School in Cushing, Iowa, and graduated from Central High School in Sioux City. She married Gordon Elliott on April 8, 1933. The couple farmed in Perry Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, for many years. He died September 5, 1970, in Hinton. Following retirement she was employed as a bridal consultant at T. S. Martins and for Aldens Catalog Store. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. The Sun Valley Wednesday Ladies Golf League and various Perry Township card clubs. Survivors include a son and his wife, Bruce and Jane of Hinton, two grandchildren Stacey Folkerts and Jim Elliott, a great grandson and two brothers Walter Brosamle of Yamhill, Oregon, and Lester Brosamle of Sioux City. She preceded in death by a brother Henry “Sonny.”
