RAYMOND F. EGDORF
Raymond F. Egdorf ,78, of Hinton, Iowa, died Tuesday September 1, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness. Services were held on Saturday September 5, at Mauer-Johnson Funeral home in Le Mars, Iowa, with the Rev. Larry Fett of Grace Lutheran Church officiating. Graveside services were held at Prairie View Cemetery with military honors provided by the Casper American Legion Post No. 477 of Hinton.
Mr. Egdorf was born June 17, 1920, on the family farm near Granville, Iowa, the son of Fredrick and Lilly (Dixson) Egdorf. He served in the U. S. Army during World War 11 from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1944. He married Evelyn Robson on July 22, 1945, in Paullina, Iowa. The couple lived in Columbus, Nebraska, and Paullina before moving to Hinton in 1954. He worked for Wilson Trailer Co. in Sioux City for 15 years before he established Hinton Welding in 1967. He retired from the welding shop in 1985 and drove a school bus for the Hinton Community School District for several years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and golfing. He was a member of the Casper American Legion post 477 of Hinton.
Survivors include his wife, two sons Carroll and his wife Karen of Sioux City and Daniel and his wife Maggie of Sloan, Iowa, one brother Ernest of Boyden, Iowa, two sisters Rachel Franzen of Brewster, Minnesota, and Dora Puhrman of Le Mars, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews,. He preceded in death by a sister Mable Hinz, and a brother Roy in infancy.
