ARTHUR L GERNHART
Arthur “Bode” Gernhart, 73, of Kingsley died Saturday July 25, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital. Services were held at Rock Branch United Methodist Church rural Correctionville, Iowa, with the Rev. Arnold Herbst officiating. Burial was in Rock Branch Fairfield Cemetery, with Masonic services conducted by Cosmos Lodge 470 A. F. & A. M. of Kingsley. Mr. Gernhart was born October 26, 1924, in rural Lawton Iowa, the son of Leon and Margaret (Luscombe) Gernhart. He graduated from Kingsley High School and attended Iowa State College. He married Ruby Bohle on October 11, 1947, in Kingsley. He farmed in the Kingsley area for many years. He was a member of Rock Branch United Methodist Church, where he served as chairman of the board for many years. He served on the Pierson Elevator board for six years and was president of the board for one year. He became a Mason in 1960 and was a 32nd degree Mason of the Sioux City Scottish Rite Consistory and a past master of Cosmos Lodge A. F. & A. M. of Kingsley. Survivors include his wife two sons and their wives, Alan and Charlotte of Kingsley and Kelly and Cindi of Raymore, Missouri; three daughters Linda and her husband Lyle Fikse of Correctionville, Joy and her husband Dennis Beaver of Hinton, Iowa, and Diane Wheeler of Kingsley; 11 grandchildren, Chad Fikse, Stephan, Jessica, and Rebecca Wheeler., Landon and Brooke Beaver, Janelle (Fikse) Brouwer and Ellie, Gina, Caroline, and Julia Genhart; a brother and his wife Bud and Margaret of Kingsley; a sister and her husband LaVone and Earl Nugent of Kingsley and two stepsisters Joyce Harrison of Kingsley and Janet and her husband Jim McKibbin of Ida Grove, Iowa. He preceded in death by his parents; stepmother Mildred Genhart Curley; a brother Ramon; and his parents-in-law, Fritz and Minnie Bohle.
