Le Mars Daily SentinelBrenda Stinton, 49, of Merrill, died unexpectedly, Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City.
Brenda Joyce Stinton was born June 8, 1964, in Le Mars, to Lyle Vernon and Betty Francis (Steinfadt) Stinton. Brenda was baptized into the Lutheran faith at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Brunsville. She received her education through the Le Mars Community Schools.
Brenda was always known for her compassion for others. She had worked at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center for more than 20 years as an aid and later in the physical therapy department. In 2007, Brenda accepted a position with Hospice of Siouxland assisting clients in their own homes. She will always be remembered for her caring and gentle soul with patients.
She loved her pets: her tropical birds Gidget, Petey, and Syndee; her dogs Buck, Rox, Ox and Stump; and her cats, ducks and geese. She enjoyed going fishing and "checking the crops" with family and friends.
Along with her compassion, Brenda will be remembered for her awesome sense of humor and lovable laugh.
Survivors include siblings: Michael and Patsy Stinton, of Seney, Lynda Martin and Jay Smith, of Sioux City, Gloria Stinton, of Sioux City, Donna and Dave Lariviere, of Bird Island, Minn., Pam Baldwin, of Le Mars, Larry and Kerri Stinton, of Le Mars and David and Jenny Stinton, of Le Mars; a sister-in-law, Diane Stinton, of Le Mars; her soul mate, Marty Laughton, of Merrill; special niece and nephew she helped raise, Chad and Trisha; several nieces, nephews, and several aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle Vernon and Betty Francis (Steinfadt) Stinton; two brothers, Richard "Dick" and Gene Stinton; a nephew, Richard "RPM" Martin; two nieces, Rachael and Jennifer Stinton; an aunt, Joyce Moritz and previous partner Jeff Baldwin.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the Rev. Gary Landsness of St. John's Lutheran Church, Le Mars, officiating. Inurnment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitations will be after 4 p.m. today (Monday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Lariviere, Chad Stinton, James Lariviere, Lyle Stinton, Travis Fulton, and Jeff Lariviere. Honorary casket bearers will be Dustan Reiter, Dylan Reiter, Blake Laughton, Wesley Bremmer, Trisha Baldwin, Jon Lariviere, Frank Peterson, and Justin Cradit.
