Funeral services for John Luksan, 74, of Sioux City were held this Thursday forenoon at 9 o'clock in St. Joseph Catholic church in Sioux City with Rev. Edward C. Lilly officiating, and burial was in Calvary cemetery.

According to the Sioux City Journal Mr. Luksan was found dead Tuesday by a railroad employee at the bottom of a railroad turntable pit. Coronor R.W. Perkins said that Mr. Luksan accidently fell into the pit while on the way home. He later was dragged by turntable machinery, officers said.

Mr. Luksan was a former resident of Lincoln township, Plymouth county.

FORMER PLYMOUTH RESIDENT MEETS DEATH IN SIOUX CITY MONDAY

John F. Luksan, a former Plymouth countyan, who had lived in Sioux City over 20 years, was found dead Tuesday at the bottom of an Illinois Central turntable pit. He is supposed to have fallen into the pit while on his way home from a ball game Monday night and his mangled body had been dragged about 50 feet by the turntable machinery.

Mr. Luksan was born February 29, 1872, in Plymouth County. He had resided in Sioux City about 22 years. His wife, Elizabeth, died June 7, 1946, in Sioux City.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Burke; two sons, Oliver of Sioux City and Ernest of Los Angeles; a sister, Mrs. Peter Krier of Hendricks, Minn., and five grandchildren.

Mr. Luksan was found lying on his stomach with his clothes badly torn and with head, face and shoulders mangled. His broken glasses lay nearby.
