Neva A. Taylor, 102, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Alex T. Washington officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Merrill, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. today, with the family present 4 to 6 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Taylor was born May 27, 1900, in Anthon, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Catherine Barnett. She moved with her family to Merrill, Iowa, as a child and graduated from Merrill High School.
She married Harold Taylor on Aug. 7, 1919 in Merrill. She resided in Hinton, Iowa, where she was employed as a bookkeeper with the grain elevator. She was employed with the bank in Merrill. She was also was employed with A.J. Taylor Grocery and Meat Market in Hinton. The couple moved to Des Moines. She was employed the longest as an executive secretary for the P.T.A. until 1979. Mr. Taylor passed away in June 1969 in Des Moines. She moved to Sioux City in 1987, where she resided ever since.
She was of the Methodist faith and a member of the A.B.W.A.. She also was a P.T.A. and Iowa P.T.A. Lifetime member. She enjoyed Iowa basketball, crossword puzzles, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Don Taylor of Sioux City and Harold Taylor Jr. and his wife, Faye, of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren, Don Taylor Jr. and his wife, Marlene, of Bay City, Ore., Dennis Taylor and his wife, Linda, and Dana Taylor, all of Sioux City, Doug L. Taylor and his wife, Lisa, of Sergeant Bluff, and Brenda Hamilton and Scott Taylor and his wife, Jean, all of Houston, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Scott Taylor, Kimberly Taylor, Heather Birchfield, Brock Hamilton and Sam Taylor; four great-great-grandchildren, Jacob Barnhart, Hailey Cornish, Draven Taylor and Cage Taylor; two great-stepgrandchildren, Kristi and Travis Watkins; and a great-great-stepgrandchild, Kourtney Dwyer.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Fran Taylor; two sisters and a brother.
Honorary pallbearers will be Don B. Taylor Jr., Dennis W. Taylor, Dana L. Taylor, Doug L. Taylor, Brenda L. Hamilton and Scott L. Taylor.
