Mrs. Wilhelmina Stolley Passes Away at Home of Her Son, North East of Remsen
Death Due to Dropsy

Death called another one of this community's pioneer residents in the person of Mrs. Wilhelmina Stolley, who passed awy at the home of her son, John Stolley, north east of Remsen, Monday morning, Feb 28. She was 70 yeas old. Mrs. Stolley suffered for several years with dropsy, and for many weeks her conditions was considered dangerous. She has made her home with her son for some time, where she received every possible assistance in her illness, although of late it was apparent that nothing could be done to prolong her life for any considerable lengh of time. Death relieved her of her sufferings at 6:50 a.m. Monday.

Mrs. Stolley was born at Stetslebin, Pomerania Germany, December 29, 1850 and came to the United States in 1872, locating in Chicago. Here she married to Jurgen Stolley the following year, and the couple came to Iowa, settling near Granville, soon after their marriage. Thirteen years ago they moved to Remsen, where Mr. Stolley died 4 years ago. The union was blessed with 6 children, one of them dying in infancy. Ther remaining 5 are Mrs. Anna Erichsen, Paulina, Iowa; John Stolley, Granville, Iowa; Theo W. Stolley, Sleepy Eye, Minnesota; Mrs. Elizabeth Kielhorn, Marcus; Mrs. Amanda Diegel, Marcus.

The deceased was a good, lovable Christian woman, who always enjoyed the well merited esteem of her large cirle of friends both here and in the vicinity of Granville. Her death, while expected is sincerely regretted by Remsen people in general, and the friends of the family offer their sincerest sympathy.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon. Short services, conducted by Rev. Fred Wahlers, of Remsen, were held at John Stolley home north east of here, at 11:30, and the usual church services were held in Christ Lutheran chruch her at 1:00. Burial was in the Remsen cemetery.
