DEATH COMES TO MRS. WM. E. PARKER
RITES HELD SUNDAY FOR LONG TIME AKRON RESIDENT
Mrs. Wm. E. Parker, a resident of Akron for many years, passed away last Thursday, August 11, 1949, at the Cummins Nursing Home in Sioux City, where she was a patient, after an illness of a few weeks, at the age of 80 years and 29 days.
Minnie Neal was born in Allamakee county, Iowa, July 12, 1869. She came to Akron with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. A. Neal, about fifty-eight years ago, and this had since remained her home. She was united in marriage with William E. Parker in the summer of 1897. Their union was blessed with four children- three sons and daughter. One son, Bert died April 2, 1939.
Left to mourn her death are her husband, William, of Akron; one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Bellwood, of Akron; one son, Bernard Parker, of Clearwater, Calif.; five grandchildren and six great-children; four brothers, Frank Neal, of Los Angeles, Calif.; Bentley Neal, of Clark, S. D.; Lew Neal, Jefferson, Oregon, and Victor Neal, of Akron; two sisters, Mrs. Claude Squires, of Centerville, S. D., and Mrs. Nora Lewis of Cherokee, Iowa; besides, a number of nieces and nephews.
A kind and devoted wife and mother, she will be missed by her neighbors and the many friends made during her long residence here.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Rossow Funeral home, conducted by Rev. Orville N. Nelson, pastor of the Akron Methodist church. H. J. Behmer sang, with accompaniment by Mrs. W. J. Brunner. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
