LAST RITES FOR JAMES RUSSELL

WELL KNOWN RETIRED FARMER DIES
FOLLOWING AN ILLNESS OF A MONTH
Last rites were held Monday morning for James F. Russell, a resident of this county for forty-five years, at St. James church, Rev. Father L. J. Cooper officiating. The services were largely attended by old friends and neighbors of the deceased.

Mr. Russell had enjoyed good health until about a month ago. At that time he was assisting a son on the farm. He was taken suddenly ill and rapidly grew worse. Physicians called in found he was suffering from a serious internal malady and held out no hopes for his recovery.

James F. Russell was born near Decatur, Ill., March 10, 1860 and was 69 years, 5 months and 21 days old. He followed the occupation of farmer all his life. He came to Le Mars in the early eighties and lived in Plymouth county ever since. A few years ago he moved from the farm and made his home in the city.

He was united in marriage forty one years ago to Miss Annie Tiernan who survivors him. Besides his wife he leaves five children, all of this county, Miss Minnie Russell, living at home, Mrs. John Miller, Michael Russell, Charles Russell, and John Russell. There are seven grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers and three sisters. On son, Eugene, preceded him in death.

The brothers and sisters are Martin Russell, Wellington, Kansas; Thos. Russell, Gillman, Iowa; Robert Russell, Hutchinson, Kansas; Mrs. George Miller, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Mrs. Frank Clarke, South Haven, Kansas; and Mrs. Annie Narey, Durango, Colorado.

Mr. Russell was a hard working and successful farmer and by industry and integrity acquired a comfortable competence. He was a devoted husband and father and a good neighbor. His sterling qualities as a citizen gained him the respect of all who knew him.
