Martin Russell Taken By Death
Martin Russell, 72, well known Plymouth county farmer for many years and resident in Le Mars the past eleven years, died Friday at the Zimmerman Home. Mr. Russell had been in poor health for several years but was up and around until of late.
Martin Russell was born August 1, 1869, at Decatur, Ill. He left Illinois when a lad with his parents who farmed in Iowa and Kansas. He followed the occupation of farming all his life until he retired to live in town. While living in Le Mars he was custodian of the club room of Trinity Council, Knights of Columbus, for some time.
Little is known of his personal history. He was a brother of the late James Russell, well known Plymouth county farmer and stockman. He is survived by two brothers and a sister, whose addresses are unknown and a number of nephews and nieces.
The funeral will be held this Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock in St. James church, Rev.L.J. Cooper officiating. The pallbearers will be Peter Cronin, John P. Eilenbecker, Patrick Marron, Nick Mertes, Jas Nolan and Jos. Walz.
Burial will be in St. James cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the Wiltgen funeral home.
