DEATH CALLS FRANK MOFFATT
Frank Moffatt, a resident of Plymouth county, Iowa, for twenty-seven years, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Van De Braack, in Westfield township,Thursday, December 30, 1926, at the age of 64 years, 3 months, and 19 days. He had been a patient sufferer for a number of years with a lingering illness being confined to his bed the last seven weeks.
Mr. Moffatt was born at Mendota, Ill., September 11, 1862, and came west with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George C. Moffatt, to Correctionville, Woodbury county, Iowa. On arriving there the family lived in a stockade erected by the government to guard against the Indians. He continued to live in Woodbury county until 1890, when he bought a farm in Plymouth county, near Westfield, where he had lived until he died.
On October 22, 1884, Mr. Moffatt was united in marriage to Maybelle Riordan. To this union seven children were born. They all survive and are Melvin, of Geddes, S. D.; Clarence of Los Angeles, Calif.; Christy, Charley and Vinton, of near Westfield, Mrs. John Van De Braak and Miss Bessie Moffatt, also of Westfield. Three sisters are; Mrs. Phil Carlin, of Sioux City; Mrs. Hattie Dean, of Sheldon, Iowa, and Mrs. M. J. McGowan, of Elk Falls, Kansas. There are eleven grandchildren, Mr. Moffatt’s wife died September 4, 1926. Both he and his wife united with the Methodist church in 1888, of which they were faithful members until their death.
The family have the sincere sympathy of many friends in this second bereavement within the past three months.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 p. m. in the Congregational church at Westfield. Rev. Tower, of Sioux City officiating. The body was interred at Akron, Iowa, besides his wife in Riverside cemetery.
