Remsen News. Wednesday, Nov. 10. Mr. Atkinson lost his oldest boy with diphtheria on Sunday evening. We are glad to report the disease abating. No new cases. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, November 13, 1885, page 1.

Note: The gravestone inscription reads, " Son of H. & M.R. Atkinson; Aged 4 yrs, 23 days". The parents are likely Hamilton and Mathilde (Mathern) Atkinson.
