Robert "Bob" Grosenheider, 73, of Le Mars, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at his home in Le Mars.
Robert Henry Grosenheider was born Sept. 9, 1939, in Le Mars, to Henry "Jack" and Dorothy (Zimmerman) Grosenheider. Bob was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars.

At the age of 11, Bob played on the first Iowa Little League team at the National League Tournament in Princeton, Ill. He attended and graduated from Le Mars Central High School with the Class of 1957.

Bob began his 41-year career with Wells' Dairy in 1959, retiring in 2000. He had worked for the dairy in many capacities: route sales, operator at the North Plant, route supervisor, and shag driver.

Bob was united in marriage to Elaine Harms on Aug. 3, 1958, at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. Bob and Elaine were blessed with five children, Debra, Julie, Scott, Dan and Karin.

Bob and Elaine enjoyed spending more than 40 years at Lake Shetek, Minn. Many family memories were created and shared. He enjoyed sitting on the dock watching the sunset in the evenings and sipping his morning coffee to the sunrise. He also enjoyed building birdhouses and feeding the birds and squirrels.

Bob enjoyed his woodworking and the weekly trips to Menards. He also enjoyed going fishing and hunting.

His greatest joy in life was his family, spending time with the kids, grandchildren, and later great-grandchildren.

He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a longtime member of the Le Mars Eagles #1381 where he served in many positions.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Elaine, of Le Mars; three children, Scott Grosenheider and his wife Joyce, of Le Mars, Dan Grosenheider, of Le Mars, and Karin Ward and her husband Jory, of Sergeant Bluff; five grandchildren: Melessa (Lee) Tyler, Kim (Paul) Czarnezki, Julia (Jason) Curry, Shayla Rowe, and Brody Rowe; six great-grandchildren: Justin Tyler, Nathan Tyler, Kirsten Tyler, Samuel Czarnezki, Aleyna Curry and Braden Curry; a brother-in-law, Dale Cook, of Le Mars; several-in-laws, Bev Baker, of Le Mars, Patty and Dave Hill, of Le Mars, Joan Harms, of Le Mars, Ed and Kay Harms, of Wichita, Kan., Ken Harms, of Le Mars, and Merle and Sue Huls, of Akron; several nieces and nephews and his Yorkie, "Daisy."

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry "Jack" and Dorothy (Zimmerman) Grosenheider; two infant daughters, Debra and Julie; a sister, Marilyn "Peachy" Cook; several other family members; and his favorite dog, Bentley.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A., in Le Mars, with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Interment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present to greet friends from 5-6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Doug Harms, Larry Cook, Terry Cook, Gary Cook, Tom Hagert, and Mike Harms.
