Genevieve Carstensen, 74, of Le Mars, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at her home in Le Mars.
Genevieve Lee Carstensen was born July 29, 1938, in Sioux Falls, S.D., the daughter of Richard and Jenny (Bonnema) Van Gronigen. She attended school in Sioux Falls. Following her education Jen worked at a radio station in Canton, S.D.

Jen and Wendel Carstensen were united in marriage on Feb 3, 1968, at the Canton Lutheran Church in Canton, S.D. They made their home in Le Mars.

Along with caring for her family, Jen worked at Wells' Dairy and Westmar College.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars where she taught Sunday School.

Jen enjoyed shopping, crocheting and reading.

She will be lovingly remembered by three children, Mark Foss, of Atlantic, Vickie Case and her husband Aaron, of Hoffman Estates, Ill., and Sheila Konz and her friend Doug Smith, of Le Mars; six grandchildren Jeremy, Christopher, Kelsey, Tyler, Ashley and Amber; and a sister, Betty Barone of Chicago, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wendel on Aug. 21, 2008; a son-in-law George Konz; a sister, Gerry Golden; and a brother, Richard Van Gronigen.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The Rev. Gary Landsness of St. John's Lutheran Church, in Le Mars, will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. on Friday.
