ESTEEMED AKRON WOMAN SUMMONED LAST SATURDAY

Mrs. John Bengtson Had Resided in This Vicinity Many Years

Mrs. John Bengtson, one of the early day residents of this vicinity, passed away at her home in this city, Saturday, June 2, 1934, from ailments incident to advanced years, at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 27 days.

Mrs. Bengtson was born in Norway, March 5, 1859, where she grew to young womanhood. She came to the United States in 1882 and located in Union county, South Dakota. She was united in marriage with John Bengtson on December 8, 1883, and they farmed northwest of here in Union county, S.D., until 1915, when they reitred from active farm life and came to Akron to reside. Her husband preceded her in death on August, 21, 1926.

She is survived by five daughters and three sons--Berndt Bengtson, of Forman, N. D.; Mrs. Edward Bratt, of Beresford, S.D.; Mrs. Sever Wolden, of Camp Crook, S. D.; Wm. Bengtson, of Chatsworth, Iowa; Mrs. O. F. Bohman, of St. Edward, Nebr.; Lena Bengtson, Otillia Bengtson and August Bengtson, of Akron, Iowa; also by sixteen grandchildren. One daughter, Marie Helen, passed away May 14, 1919.

Mrs. Bengtson was a kind and devote4d wife and mother, a good and helpful friend and neighbor. Many friends extend their sympathy to the bereaved relatives.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the English Lutheran church at 1:30 o'clock, following a brief service at the home. Rev. C.W. Samuelson delivered the sermon, taking his text from the Epistle of June, verses 20-21. Mrs. Gust. Granquist sant as a solo one of the favorite Norwegian hymns of the deceased, and selections were also rendered by a mixed quartet at the home and church. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.

Relatives and friends present from out of town were: Mrs. Sever Wolden, of Camp Crook, S. D.; Mrs Edward Bratt and family, of Beresford, S. D.; Rev. and Mrs. O. F. Bohman and children, of St. Edward, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs John Skarie, of Canton, S. D.
