Benjamin M. Koehler
Benjamin M. Koehler, resident of Le Mars for some time, passed away at his home here on Christmas morning, following an illness of two years.
Mr. Koehler was born at Galena, Illinois, on January 1, 1871, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Koehler. He graduated from Le Mars high school and was appointed to West Point Military academy and graduated from that institution in 1897. He served in the United States army until June 1, 1913, when he purchased a farm near Hawarden and lived there until 1944 when ill health forced him to retire. He moved to Le Mars in 1944.
Deceased is survived, by one brother, R. J. Koehler, of this city.
Private funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Luken's Funeral Home with Rev. J. W. Oerter officiating and burial will be in the family plot in the city cemetery. Clyde Eastman, John Alesch, George Kluckhohn, Frank Hentges, E. Beachler and John Moore will serve as pallbearers.
