Thurman A. Rhodes

Thurman A. Rhodes, 94, formerly of Le Mars, died Friday (May 20,1983) at a care center in Paullina.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Mauer Funeral Home in Le Mars. Rev. James Davidson officiated. Burial was in Le Mars Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Rhodes was born on Sept. 23. 1888, at Bingham, Ill., to James and Telethew Harris Rhodes. He came to this area from Illinois in 1919 after serving in World War I. He lived in Le Mars, Remsen, Cleghorn, Alton and Marcus. He worked For the state highway department for many years.

He married Laura Mae Oldis in Feburary of 1920 at Le Mars. She preceded him in death.

Mr Rhodes was a member of the Last Man's Club of Le Mars and the Methodist Church.

Survivors are one daughter, Sylvia Morris of Los Angeles, Calif.; four sons, Wendell of Rockford, Ill., Sumner of Ozark, Mo., Darrell of Omaha, Neb., and Thurman Jr. of Conway, Ark,; 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
