Fred C. Ross
Fred C. Ross, 92, of Elk Point, died Sunday (Aug. 8,1982) at his home following a long illness.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in the Anderson funeral home. Rev. David Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Mr. Ross was born Aug. 30,1889, at Le Mars. He moved to the Merrill and Brunsville area as a child and farmed in that area for several years.
He married Gertrude Thomas Dec. 27,1910. He married Dorothy Cooper Nov. 23, 1959. They moved to South Dakota in 1964 where he farmed until 1975 when he retired to Elk Point.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Cora) Jans and Mrs. Harold (Helen) Johnson, both of Akron: three sons. Claude of Yamhill, Ore., Virgil of Westfield, and Lome of Akron; two stepsons, Donald French of Woodland Hills, Calif, and Wilbur Nelson of Sioux City; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren and six step-greatgrandchildren.
