Mrs. Gertrude M. Ross
Mrs. Gertrude M. Ross, 87, Westfield, died Monday in the Akron hospital of a long illness.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Westfield Congregational church. The Rev. Harold E. Sieglaff officiated. Burial was in the Hillside cemetery at Merrill. A prayer service was held at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Schroeder funeral home, Akron.
Pallbearers were Donald Dion, Jason Jans, Thomas Ross, James Ross, LeRoy Ross, Kenneth Johnson.
Mrs. Ross, the former Gertrude Thomas, was born Dec. 14, 1892, in Rock Rapids. She married Fred Ross Dec. 27, 1910 at Merrill. She was a lifelong Plymouth county area resident. She was a practical nurse for many years in the area and, also worked in Minneapolis, Vermillion and Sioux City. Mrs. Ross was a former member of the Royal Neighbors club.
Survivors include three sons, Loren of Akron, Virgil of Westfield, and Claude of Yamhill, Ore.; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Helen) Johnson and Mrs. Carl (Cora) Jans, both of Akron; 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
