Mrs. M. F. Brodie Died At Rochester
Had Lived Here Sixty-Three Years
Mrs. M. F. Brodie passed away at the Kahler hospital, Rochester, Minn., Friday, March 2, where she had been receiving treatment for the past six weeks for a serious throat ailment.
Margaret Ross was born at Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada, on October 15, 1867, and had reached the age of 77 years, 4 months and 17 days. In the fall of 1881 she came with her parents to Plymouth county where they settled on a farm in Johnson township. On July 21, 1885, she was united in marriage with Malcolm F. Brobie and to this union eight children were born. Two sons have preceded her in death, John William and Colin Douglas.
Beside her husband she is survived by five sons, Charles of Merrill, Stuart of Sioux City, Ronald of Alhambra, Calif., Robert of Akron and William of Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Washington; one daughter, Helen May King of Le Mars. There are sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also one sister, Mrs. Wm. McGilvrey of Messington, S.D.; three brothers, Alex Ross of Saskatchewan, and Robert and Angus of Wessington, S. D.
Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Brodie joined the Plymouth Presbyterian church near Crathorne. Later changed to the First Presbyterian church of Le Mars by letter. They moved to Le Mars in 1913 where they have since resided.
For almost sixty years Mrs. Brodie was a devoted wife and mother, her chief interest being in her home and her family, reaching out in later years to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her gracious hospitality will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. The funeral services will be held at the Plymouth Presbyterian church on Tuesday at 2 o-clock, Rev. G. G. Thompson in charge, assisted by Rev. T. C. Siebert. Burial will be in Plymouth Cemetery.
