Shirley Jean Miller
Shirley Jean Miller, 63, Akron, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 1991, at her home after a long illness.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran church in Akron. Rev. William Flemr officiated. Robert Brown, vocalist sang "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art", accompanied by Carol Harris, organist. Burial was in Union Creek Lutheran church cemetery, rural Akron, under direction of Schroeder funeral home of Akron.
Honorary pallbearers were Fred Claesson, Allen Vander Helm, Wayne Miller, Lloyd Miller, Don Caskey, Elmer Meske, Ray Ericson, Robert Miller, Elmer Wilken, and Ralph Wendt. Active pallbearers were Brian Wilier, Kirk Miller, Terry Wilier, Greg Heeren, Mick Ruhland, Merlyn Miller, Chad Ericson, and Gene Ericson.
Mrs. Miller, the former Shirley Jean Stinehart, was born Dec. 3, 1927, in Union county, S.D., rural Akron, daughter of Harold and Anna (Valstad) Stinehart. She graduated in 1945 from the Akron high school. She married Clifford Miller Nov. 16, 1946 at the Union Creek Lutheran church near Akron. They lived in the Akron area their entire married life. She worked for many years at the First National Bank in Akron and the Akron Lumber Company. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church and the Women of the ELCA.
Survivors include her husband, Clifford; two daughters, Mrs. Mick (Nancy) Ruhland and Mrs. Greg (Lori) Heeren, both of Akron; five grandchildren, Chad and Gene Ericson, Trent Ruhland, and Tricia and Angela Heeren, all of Akron; her mother-in-law, Pearl Miller of Akron; a sister-in-law, Karen Stinehart of Mandan, N.D.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, David Ericson; two brothers, Ralph and Loren (Lou) and a sister, Rhoda Mae Jennings.
