Janice M. June, 75, of Le Mars, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Janice Marie June was born July 31, 1937, in Sioux City, the daughter of Robert C. and Margaret (Carter) Thompson. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City. She furthered her education at Morningside College in Sioux City where she received a degree in education. While at Morningside, Janice belonged to the Sigma Kappa Sorority.

On Aug. 6, 1960, Janice and Marlo June were united in marriage at the Whitfield United Methodist Church in Sioux City. Marlo's career in the construction field moved the family throughout the West and Midwest before returning to the Merrill area. During these years, Janice taught elementary school and operated a preschool.

Janice was a member of the United Methodist Church and held many offices within the church and United Methodist Women.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and served with two different chapters. She has also been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and held several offices including Matron.

She will be remembered by her daughter, Karen and her husband, Joe Boehmer, of Coleridge, Neb., and their daughter Danielle of Yankton, S.D.; a daughter, Sharyl Elgin and her daughter, Kathryn, of California; sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Merlin Bock, of Tracy, Minn., Doris and Ken Myskins, of Sheldon, Bev and Ray Berens, of Benson, Minn., and LaVon and Jack Holton, of Merrill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband Marlo Feb. 20, 2011.

A private graveside service was held earlier this week at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. The Rev. Merrill Muller from the Merrill First United Methodist Church officiated.
