Samuel Sampson Died At Home In Le Mars After Long Illness

Samuel R. Sampson died Tuesday at the home of his son, Roy Sampson, Third Ave. S. E. of cancer of the throat after several months illness,

Samuel Sampson was born December 8, 1865, in Lincolnshire, England, and came to the United States in 1875. He lived first in Shullsburg, Wis., and came to Iowa in 1904, locating first near Kingsley. Later he lived in Leeds nine years and for the past 15 years he had lived with his son, Roy, on a farm near Craig and last summer they moved to Le Mars. In 1892 Mr. Sampson was married to Anna Keesling who died in 1938.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mary Borger of Long Beach, Calif., and two sons, Otto of Long Beach and Roy of Le Mars. There are nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by two brothers, Henry and Albert of Le Mars and a sister, Mrs. Mary Gardner, of Houston, Texas.

Funeral services were held at the Craig Lutheran church at 2 p. m. Thursday with Rev. Walter Schmidt officiating. Burial was in Riverside cemetery at Akron. Mauer's were in charge.
