HARRY THOMPSON
Harry A. Thompson, retired farmer, passed away at his home in Merrill, Wednesday, October 29, 1952, after suffering a heart attack early in the morning. He was 74 years of age on May 15, born at Marcasan, Wisconsin, in 1878, the son of Elizabeth Rhodes and John Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was united in marriage to Florence Brown on January 19, 1901, at Danbury, Iowa. He farmed in Plymouth County from 1901-1908 then moved to Wessington Springs, South Dakota, and lived there until 1934 when he moved back to farm near Merrill. He retired to Merrill in 1949. He was a member of Isaac Walton League, Community Club of Merrill.
Survivors include the widow, Florence, two sons; Milton of Wessington Springs, S.D., Everett of Merrill; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter.
Funeral services, under the direction of Luken Funeral home of LeMars, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 31, at the First Methodist Church in Merrill with Rev. David Streyfeller officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Friday.
Pall bearers will be Leland Spies, William Trometer, Walter Elskamp, Robert Miller, Howard Knudson and Ted Forney.
