Rosetta "Rosie" Riedemann, 92, of Remsen, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.
Rosie Riedemann was born Feb. 25, 1914, in rural Granville, the daughter of Albert and Metha (Brinckmann) Meyer. Rosie was raised in the Granville area and received her education in the rural school system. She then did domestic work in the Granville area.
On May 29, 1935 she married Vernon Riedemann at Paullina. They made their home near Granville where they were engaged in farming. They moved to rural Cherokee to farm in 1942, to rural Paullina in 1944 and in 1945 to a farm south of Remsen. In 1971 they retired from farming and moved into Remsen. Vernon died March 13, 1992.
Rosie had been a resident of Happy Siesta Health Care Center since Sept. 6, 2006.
She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen, St. Paul WELCA and Post 3328 Ladies V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was an active community volunteer which included helping with meals on wheels and in transporting people to their appointments.
She was named Remsen Citizen of the Year in 2002.
She enjoyed quilting, knitting and doing word search puzzles.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Wendell and Caryn and Richard and Mary and one daughter, Judy and her husband Robert Gotto, all of Remsen; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Vera Dau of Sutherland; one sister-in-law, Emily Meyer of Paullina.
She was preceded by her parents; one son, Gordon; one sister, Mabel Dau and her husband, Elvin; two brothers, Clarence Meyer and Herbert Meyer and his wife Leona and one brother-in-law, Delbert Dau.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen with the Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen City Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will resume Monday at 9 a.m. until service time at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Casketbearers will be Steven, Robert, Donald and Kevin Riedemann, Jeffery, Chad and Todd Gotto. - Le Mars Daily Sentinel, Friday, November 3, 2006
