Service set Thursday for lifelong Westfield resident
Joseph Dean Caskey, 41, Westfield, was stricken with a heart attack Monday, Aug. 28, 1989, while attending a farm sale at Irene, S.D. and taken to a Yankton hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at the, Westfield Congregational Church in Westfield. The Rev. Norman McCallum will officiate. Shirley Banks, vocalist, will sing "In The Garden" and "What A Friend", accompanied on the piano by Arlene Morehead. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery in Akron under the direction of Schroeder funeral home of Akron. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were 'Larry Faust, Harold Higman, Jr., Leonard Buryanek, Mark Rasmussen, Jerry Mohr, Lance Morehead, Terry Morehead and Steve Hassler.
Mr. Caskey was born Dec. 18, 1947 to Harley and Mary Ellen Faust Caskey in Akron, Iowa. He graduated in 1966 from the Westfield high school. He married Joy Porsch Oct. 18, 1969 in Elk Point, S.D. He was a contractor for the sanitation department in Sioux City for many years. Since 1981, he has been employed by Higman Sand and Gravel in Akron.
He is survived by his wife, Joy of Westfield, a foster brother, Levi Hughes of Marietta, Gai; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Loretta Porsch of Westfield; many uncles and aunts; nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
