Gordon Dale Riedemann, 50, of Ames, Ia., formerly of Remsen died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 17, 1991 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Ia.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen. Rev. John J. McGuirk officiated, joine34d by Pastor Craig Miller. Burial was in the Remsen city Cemetery under direction of the Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen.
Graveside military rites were conducted by Post 220 of the American Legion and Post 3328 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Riedemann was born May 8, 1941 at rural Granville to Vernon and Rosetta (Meyer) Riedemann. He moved with his parents to rural Cherokee in 1942. In 1944 they moved to rural Paullina where they lived until moving to rural Remsen in 1945.
He graduated from the Remsen Public High School in 1959. He was employed at several car dealerships at Marcus, Remsen and Le Mars before becoming self-employed. He entered the Army Reserve in 1963 and was activated on May 13, 1968, during the Vietnam conflict, serving at Fort Carson at Colorado Springs, Colo. until being discharged on January 27, 1969. He married Patricia Van Dam on August 24, 1964 at Remsen where they made their home until moving to Le Mars in 1971.
He married Kumari Lartius on May 15, 1983 at Le Mars, where they made their home. In 1983 they moved to Denver, Colo. where he was employed by Goodyear. He was transferred to Ames in 1988 where he was currently living and was employed at both of the Goodyear store locations there.
Surviving are a son, Donnie, of Remsen; a daughter Deb Lundquist of Bradgate, Ia.; his parents, Vernon and Rosetta Riedemann of Remsen; two brothers, Wendell and Richard, both of Remsen; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Judy) Gotto of Remsen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Casket bearers were Chad, Jeff and Todd Gotto and Keven, Robert and Steven Riedemann.
Honorary pallbearers were Randy Hazel, Dennis Pearson, Gerald Sanny, Larry Taylor and John and Nick Van Dam. – family news clipping, unsourced
