DEATH OF YOUNG MAN
EUGENE RUSSELL HAD BEEN ILL FOR SEVERAY YEARS
WAS BORN AND REARED IN JOHNSON
Lived on the Home Farm Where He Grew up and Attended Country School. His Health Began to Fail Some Five Years Ago
Eugene Russell died at the home of his parents, 407 Fifth street yesterday morning at an early hour, following a long illness caused by tuberculosis,
Mr. Russell had been in poor health for the past five years. He was in New Mexico for some time in the hope that change of climate would ameliorate his condition but this expectation was not realized. About two months ago he returned to Le Mars and his condition had been growing rapidly more serious until death came. Mr. Russell was resigned to his fate and viewed the approaching end with resignation and fortitude. With calmness and tranquility he took farewell of his parents and brothers and sisters and expressed his last earthly wishes.
Eugene James Russell was the third son of Mr. and Mrs. James Russell of this place. He was born on their farm in Johnson township on January 20, 1897 and was twenty-five years and six months old. He attended the country schools and worked on the farm until his health failed. He was a dutiful son and affectionate brother and was greatly liked in a large circle of companions, who regret his early death and extend sympathy to the bereaved family. He was a member of Trinity Council, Knights of Columbus. He leaves to mourn his death his parents, three brothers, Michael Russell, of Roswell, N. M., Charles and John, of Johnson township and two sister, Mrs. John Miller, of Johnson township, and Minnie, living at home, and also a large number of relatives and friends.
The funeral services will be held at St. James church at 9 o'clock on Saturday morning, Rev. Father O'Farrell officiating.
