Farmer Found Dead in Granary

John Russell Had Not Been In Good Health

John T. Russell, 31, a farmer living near Akron, died Wednesday at his home. He had been a patient at a Council Bluffs hospital for three months and had returned home the day after Thanksgiving.

Despondent, Russell is believed to have hanged himself in the granary, where, the body was found by a member of the family. The body was taken into the house and a doctor from Akron was called, but Mr. Russell had evidently been dead for some time.

John Russell was born September 16, 1905, at Le Mars. He was 31 years, 2 months and 23 days of age. He had lived in this vicinity all his life. He was the son of James F. and Anna Russell (nee Tiernan). On October 21, 1925, he was united in marriage to Loretta Blankenberg at Merrill.

He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and three children, Jacquelyn, Mary Margaret and Billy, his mother, Mrs. James Russell, two sisters, and two brothers, Mrs. Miller, Minnie Russell of Le Mars, Mike Russell, Merrill, and Chas. of Le Mars. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Eugene.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning at 9:30 from St. Patrick's church at Akron with Father Roder officiating. Burial win be made in St. James cemetery at Le Mars. Wiltgen's, funeral directors, will be in charge of arrangements.
