Alvin C. Horstman, 77, of Spirit Lake, died Tuesday (June 21,1983) at his home of an apparent heart attack. Services will be at 10:30 a .m. Friday at the Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. Rev. Walter B. Hamer will officiate. Additional services will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Presbyterian Church in Paullina. Burial will be in the Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina under the direction of the Donovan-Leyson Funeral Home at Spirit Lake.

Mr. Horstman was born Dec. 1, 1905, in Paullina. He joined the staff of the First National Bank in Paullina in 1924. He was a 50-year banker, five of those years being with the First National Bank at Emerson. Neb. He returned to Paullina where he served as cashier and vice president of the First National Bank. He married Lorraine Vlotho July 15, 1945, at Ireton. He retired in 1974 and they moved to Spirit Lake in 1975. Mr. Horstman was a charter member of the Lions Club in Paullina and an active member of the Presbyterian churches of Paullina and Spirit Lake. He served on various Red Cross committees.

Survivors are his wife: one daughter, Mrs. Morris (Clarice) Green of Emmetsburg; one son, Carleton of Des Moines, and two granddaughters.
