Esther Engelbrecht, 93, of Remsen, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1992 at Happy Siesta Nursing Home here after an illness of several months.
Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Craig D. Miller officiating. Moeller Funeral Home of Remsen was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Remsen City Cemetery.
Mrs. Engelbrecht was born on Aug. 19, 1899, to Carl and Louise (Mistele) Schumacher in Remsen. She went to Remsen Public School and graduate in 1917. She attended a business college in San Francisco, Calif. On June 5, 1926, she married Herman Engelbrecht in Sioux City. They made their home in Remsen. He died in July 1955. On Aug. 5, 1992, she moved into the Happy Siesta Nursing Home.
She had been a secretary and homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid and the Art Association of Southern California and the Remsen art group.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Elaine) Clapp of Cypress, Calif. and one grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and four brothers. – Remsen Bell-Enterprise, Jan 7, 1993.
