Thiel was born July 19, 1910, at Remsen. He was not married and was 44 years of age. Mr. Thiel was a veteran of foreign wars and passed away at veterans hospital in Sioux Falls. He had been sick for several months.
Survivors include two brothers, Frank and Jack of Remsen; eight sisters, Mrs. Peter Christofel, Mrs. Alf Pick, Mrs. Jim Tracy and Mrs. Emmert Tentinger all of Remsen; Mrs. George Wermes of Leeds, Mrs. Elmer Danner of Marcus, Mrs. Alice Curry of Cleghorn.
Fisch funeral home in Remsen had charge of arrangement.

------------Urban Thiel Dies At Sioux Falls
Funeral services for Urban H. Thiel, 44, well known Remsen man who died in the veterans hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D., Tuesday, July 5, were held in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Remsen, last Thursday morning.
Rev. George J. Theobald was celebrant of the requiem high mass.
Mr. Thiel, in failing health the past year, was confined to his home for a long time before being admitted to the veterans hospital, June 19.
Born July 19, 1910, on a farm east of Remsen, he was the son of the late John and Mary Thiel, early settlers, and who preceded him in death.
Urban Thiel gave three years in the service of his country during World War II, enlisting in 1942 and spending most of his service time in England, France and Germany with the arm air force as a mechanic and truck driver.
After his honorable discharge he returned farm work in the home community, working for Pete Wurth and before his final illness for Ray Krier.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are two brothers and eight sisters; Mrs. George Wermes, Leeds; Mrs. Peter Christoffel, Mrs. Alphonse Pick, Mrs. James Tracey and Mrs. Emmert Tentinger, all of Remsen; Mrs.l Elmer Donner and Mrs. Mary Means of Marcus, Mrs. Bernard Curry of Cleghorn, and Frank and John Thiel of Remsen.
The body was at the Fisch funeral home.
