HINTON, Iowa -- Frances A. Kovarna,97, of Hinton died Tuesday, March 16, 1993, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City with the Rev. Stanley Long of the United Methodist Church of Hinton, officiating. Burial will be in memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Kovarna was born March 9, 1896, in rural Hinton, the daughter of Michael and Mary (Poradek) Vondrak. She attended Girls Sewing School in Sioux City. She married Adolph Kovarna Nov. 24, 1915, in Sioux City. He died March 12, 1976, in Sioux City. She was a lifelong resident of the Hinton area.
Mrs. Kovarna was a member of the Hinton United Methodist Church and Farm Bureau Women. She was an active worker with the Easter Seals Association for many years.
Survivors include 2 daughters and their husbands, Leona and Clifford Lindlief and Helen and William Hathaway, all of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Lana and her husband, David Pavlik of Ames and Mary and her husband Dennis Eichinger of Princeton, Minn; three great-grandchildren, Eric and Amy Lee Pavlik of Ames and Anja Eichinger of Princeton.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Arthur and Clarence.
Pallbearers will be Robert and Howard Kovarna, Jerry and Arthur Vondrak, Richrd Kovarna and Arthur Flannery.
Memorials have been established in her name with the Hinton United Methodist Church Youth Fund and the Shrine Crippled Childrens Hospital.
