Marcus, Iowa - Lucile Schuttpelz, 84, of Marcus died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, in Charleston, S.C.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, with the Rev. Richard Memmes officiating. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. and a wake service at 7:30 p.m., at Earnest-Roethler Funeral Chapel in Marcus.
Mrs. Schuttpelz was born Sept. 4, 1914, in Sioux City, the daughter of George and Essie Belz. She attended rural school.
She married George Schuttpelz on Feb. 15, 1933. They lived on a farm near James, Iowa, for nine years and then moved to a farm near Remsen, Iowa, in 1942. They farmed near Remsen until retiring. They moved to Marcus in June 1977. He died March 15, 1978. She would winter in Charleston and summer in Marcus.
She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and St. Ann's Guild.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Clyde and Carol of LeMars, Iowa, and George Stanley and Jan of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; two daughters, Shirley and her husband Paul Shea of Marcus and Darlene Roberson of Charleston; 16 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Willis and Hewitt; three sisters, Ethel Hammer, Marie Schuttpelz, and Lola Belz; and a grandson Corey Schuttpelz.
Pallbearers will be Tom Wittkop, Steve Schroeder, Kenneth Bolton, Bill Loutsch, Roger Fischer and Pat Schuttpelz.
