Obituary. Mrs. G. Johnson.
Mrs. Gertrude Johnson, 87, a Remsen native and lifetime resident, died Wednesday (July 31,1974) at Happy Siesta retirement home in Remsen after a long illness. She had resided at the home for seven years.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran church. Rev. Tom Renquist will officiate and burial will be in Remsen city cemetery under direction of the Moeller funeral home.
Gertrude Strub was born July 27, 1887 in Remsen the daughter of Charles and Charlotte Raber Strub. She lived in the area all her life.
On Sept. 30, 1908, she was married at Remsen to Jergen Johnson. He preceded her in death in 1969.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. W. K. Myers of Le Mars; a son, Karl M. of Remsen; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband a sister, Mrs. Dave Cook. – Le Mars Daily Sentinel, Aug. 1, 1974, page 2.
