Injuries Prove Fatal To Victim Of Car Accident

Mrs. Sam Schipper Well Known Resident Passes Away

Mrs. Schipper, 83, wife of Sam Schipper, residing 935 Central Ave. SW, resident of Le Mars for nearly sixty years, died at the Sacred Heart hospital Saturday morning.

Mrs. Schipper suffered a fractured leg two weeks ago Wednesday evening when she was struck by a car at the intersection of Second Street and Central Avenue as she was going to the city library. She never rallied from the shock and was in a comatose condition most of the time since the accident.

Mrs. Bertha Schipper was born September 12, 1857, at Galena, Ill. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Duerr, who settled in Le Mars in the early eighties. Anton Duerr was city weighmaster in Le Mars and served a term as county coroner.

Mrs. Schipper is survived by her husband, Sam Schipper, and her sisters, Mrs. William Laux and Mrs. Lou Nelson, of Le mars and a number of nephews and nieces, all living in Le Mars.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon in the Mauer funeral chanpel, Rev. Paul G. Viehe, Congregational minister officiating, and interment made in the city cemetery.

The pall bearers were Roy Cooper, Earl Cooper, Wayne Schipper, Ray Meyers, Lester Dorr and Clarence Cowan.
