Olinda. Shields. Mrs. Olinda D. Shields, 80, of Remsen, died Sunday (Oct 31, 1862), at Floyd Valley hospital in Le Mars.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Christ Lutheran church in Remsen. Rev. Lee R. Mentink will officiate. Burial will be in the Remsen city cemetery.
Family visitation will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Moeller funeral home in Remsen.
Mrs. Shields, the former Olinda Nissen, was born Nov. 13, 1901, at Remsen to Martin and Christina Sherner NIssen and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Remsen high school and attended Morningside college and taught in the Remsen area for a few years.
She married Fred Shields in 1920. In later years she was a seamstress in Remsen.
Mrs. Shields was a member of Christ Lutheran church.
Mrs. Shields for many years cared for her aged aunt Mary Sherner who died at the age of 106 several years ago.
Survivors are one son, Ray of Penn Valley, Calif.; two grandsons and four great-grandchildren. – Le Mars Daily Sentinel, Nov. 2, 1982, page 13.
