Fritz Milfs on the Detlef Lindemann farm died last Saturday, September 3. Deceased was born November 2, 1849, at Guebberde, Ost Friesland, Germany. At this place he also spent his youth, being baptized and confirmed in this vicinity. May 12, 1890, he joined hands for life with Anna, nee Schmidt, and a few days afterwards left the old country to settle in Ellsworth county, Kansas. About seven years ago he came to Remsen. The departure of Mr. Milfs is all the more sorrowful, because about four weeks ago he followed an eight year old son to the grave, and the bereaved widow with seven orphans certainly deserve the sympathy of the whole community. The funeral occurred last Monday afternoon, Rev. Paul Brammer of the Evangelical Lutheran Christ church, officiating. - Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Sept 13, 1904, page 1.
