Remsen Man Found Hanged.
William Milfs, 54, Remsen mechanic was found hanging in the basement of his mother’s home there at 8:00 a.m. Monday, April 9. Coroner S. H. Luken said death resulted from strangulation. The man tied a plastic clothesline around his neck and jumped from the steps, Sheriff Frank Scholer and Coroner said.
Mr. Milfs, who was unmarried, made his home with his mother, Mrs. Anna Milfs. Mrs. Milfs had gone to Waterloo two months ago for an extended visit with a daughter. Therefore Mr. Milfs was living alone presently.
Deceased was born March 25, 1902 and was employed at Ross Motor Co. He was last seen alive at 10:30 p.m. Sunday night when a nephew, Bill Bentz, visited him.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Milfs, of Le Mars. Survivors include his mother, a sister and two brothers. Moeller funeral home is in charge of arrangements. – Le Mars Globe Post, April 9, 1956, page 5.
