Matthew W . Welch

Matthew W. Welch, 58, Elk Point, died Tuesday, April 6, 1976 in Veterans hospital at Sioux Falls following a long illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Catholic church in Elk Point. The Rev. Leonard Fox will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. April 8 in the Anderson Funeral home.

Mr. Welch was born Aug. 13, 1918 at Westfield. He was a veteran of World War II, serving the Army. He married Mary Elizabeth Petty June 28, 1947. He was employed by the Union county Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service, and later by the city of Sioux City.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Paul and Edward of Sioux City and Mark of Elk Point; and one daughter, Mrs. Robert. (Barbara) Young of Elk Point; a sister, Mrs. David (Julia) Taylor of Akron and a brother Mike of Westfield, and five grandchildren.
