Marlene Buryanek

Mrs. Frank (Marlene) Buryanek, 55, Hawarden, died suddenly at her home Friday, April 7, 1989.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran church in Hawarden. The Rev. Loren Vogler officiated. Leonard Blinde, soloist, sang "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art", accompanied by Peggy Christensen, organist. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery in Hawarden under direction of the Porter-Dow funeral home.

Pallbearers were Randy Witt, Mark Witt, Jason Witt, Jeff Buryanek, Gary Buryanek, Tim Tindall, and Lanny Pick. Mrs. Buryanek, the former Marlene Witt, was born Feb. 10, 1934, at rural Hawarden, to Alfred (Bob) and Minnie (Borchers) Witt. She attended Hawarden public schools and graduated from Westmar College in Le Mars with a degree in education. She taught at Rock Valley and Sioux City before her marriage to Frank Buryanek June 21, 1959 at Hawarden. They lived at Nerstrand, Minn. for two years before returning to a farm near Hawarden. Marlene was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran church and Ladies Aid. She was a Sunday school and catechism teacher at the church. She was a charter member of the Xi Delta Mu Sorority.

Survivors are her husband, Frank of Hawarden; a son, Bill and his wife, Sharilyn of Hawarden; two daughters, Nancy of New London, Conn., and Jane of Hawarden;. her mother, Mrs. Minnie Witt of Hawarden; a brother, Duane Witt of Hawarden; and two grandchildren, Breanne and Brice Buryanek.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred (Bob) Witt and her paternal and maternal grandparents.
