GERALD MARTIN DELANEY

Gerald Martin Delaney, 29, passed away February 23 at 12:50a.m. following an accident. Death was due to a crushed chest.

The deceased was born March 1, 1929 at LeMars, the son of Martin and Anna Delaney. He attended Central school in LeMars and in 1945 moved to Sioux City where he lived for two years. He has made his home in Sheldon since 1947.

On April 9, 1954, he was married at Sheldon to Mary Dean Vander Vliet who survives. Three children were born to them: Kim Martin 4, Nancy Marie 3 and Kelly Sue 1.

Mr. Delaney was a member of the First Reformed church.

Other survivors are his mother, Mrs. Anna Delaney of LeMars, eight sisters; Alwayne Blaue of LeMars, Phyllis Kamphoff of Sheldon, Lavonne Brouillette of Salix, Charlene Boyle of Inglewood, Calif., Kathryn Tapp of Sioux City, Esther Kirk of Milwaukee, Wisc., Thelma Coates of LeMars and Marilyn Delaney of LeMars and one brother, William Delaney of Sheldon.

The funeral will be Thursday afternoon, February 26, at 1:00 p.m. at the Vander Ploeg Chapel and 1:30 at the First Reformed church with Rev. Albert Van Dyke officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn cemetery and pallbearers will be Harold Ahlers, Richard Swenson, Steve Siebersma, Joe Saywer, Duaine Dummett and Ralph Kamphoff.
